Regional Centers

Our services for regional center clients include Intervention Programs (for clients 3 years – Adult) through the Adaptive Skills Training (AST) program, including Adaptive Skills Training, in lieu of a day program, to support young adult needs. These programs are designed to assist clients who have been diagnosed with emotional and developmental disorders that limit their learning and functioning within their natural settings such as home, community, and school or vocational settings. The program may address multiple areas of need that can include:

  • adaptive skills – self-help, hygiene, and safety
  • functional communication
  • social-emotional development
  • behavior regulation and self-management
  • executive functioning (time management and organization)
  • self-advocacy
  • life skills

Parent Training is a component of each AST programParents, primary caregivers, and other significant family members are considered collaborative members of the team as they are integral to the client’s individual AST program and progress.

Intervention services are provided pursuant to a client’s IPP (Individual Program Plan) and are coordinated by the local regional center. In addition to working with clients whose services are traditionally funded, VHAP also works with clients who are in the Self Determination Program (SDP). Our service areas consist of the Greater Los Angeles Area and outlying communities that span from East Los Angeles, Northeast Los Angeles, West Los Angeles, to Pasadena, parts of the San Gabriel Valley, and to most of the San Fernando Valley.

VHAP is vendored with the following Regional Centers and can also work with Self Determination Program (SDP) clients from other surrounding Regional Centers (i.e., Harbor or South Central).
